Since Gurzu’s inception in 2014, Ruby has been at the heart of everything we build. Ruby on Rails in particular, has allowed us to build products quickly and with confidence.
Over the years, we have also done our best to give back to the community, whether it is by organizing bootcamps to train new batches of developers, by sponsoring ruby related events, participating in the events, or by hosting local meetups. Along the way, we’ve connected with many like-minded developers who share our love for Ruby. It’s always exciting to see the community grow, and this March was no exception.
The Ruby on Rails community in Kathmandu came together once again this March 28 for a meetup, and Gurzu was proud to host it!
The event brought together a diverse group of people to share experiences, exchange ideas and strengthen the local Ruby ecosystem. The attendants ranged from new developers to seasoned veterans. The energy, curiosity, and openness in the room were truly inspiring.

Our Takeaway from the Meetup and Looking Forward
We learnt a great deal from the meetup. Not just from the speeches, but also from the conversations and questions. Here are some of our take away:
The Ruby community in Kathmandu is growing and thriving. It was amazing to see so many developers, from beginners to seasoned pros, come together with shared passion and curiosity.
- There’s a renewed interest in Ruby and Rails. The energy in the room showed that Ruby on Rails continues to be a solid, developer-friendly framework that people love working with.
- Learning never stops. The topics discussed like AI, LLMs, Hotwire and performance tips show that there is always new things to learn and a hunger to explore new ideas.
- In-person events matter. Face-to-face connections still spark the most meaningful conversations and community-building moments.
Hosting this meetup at Gurzu was a great experience, and we’re always excited to see such gatherings happening in our space. A big shoutout to the organizers, speakers, and everyone who attended for making it a success.
We are eager to explore what excites Ruby developers of today (and tomorrow), and find ways to grow together.
