Research-Backed Design Decisions
The journey began with user research. With support from the client, Gurzu helped define WOLO’s target audience — users aged 18 to 40 — and conducted surveys and interviews to better understand their interests. The insights pointed toward a diverse group that included photography lovers, travelers, nature enthusiasts, and active social media users.
These findings informed the creation of detailed user personas, which became the foundation for every design decision that followed.
Building Around a Distinctive Idea
A standout feature of WOLO is its daily photo limit — allowing users to upload just one photo per album per day. Gurzu’s design team embraced this constraint as an opportunity to encourage intentional sharing and meaningful content.
Two major features were carefully crafted to support this vision:
- Photo Timeline: Gurzu explored multiple layout concepts before settling on a smooth, carousel-style timeline that made limited photo collections feel cohesive and engaging.
- User Interaction: To foster a sense of community, the platform was designed with lightweight engagement tools, including reactions, comments, and replies — all balanced to avoid clutter while encouraging interaction.
By grounding every decision in research and staying aligned with the product’s core values, Gurzu delivered a thoughtful, engaging, and distinct user experience — helping WOLO stand out in the crowded world of photo-sharing apps.
Gurzu team also implemented a super-fast keyword search feature that enhances the user experience by making content discovery seamless and efficient.
